Ginger Milk Tea

Welcome to Foodie Friday! I’m linking up with Annmarie from the Fit Foodie Mama, Esther from Chocolate Runner Girl + Jess from Hello To Fit to create awesome healthy recipes each week! This week’s theme = Only In Your State!

My cast comes off today!!! Please send healing thoughts if you don’t mind–I’d really really love for that bone tumor to stop bein’ such a rebel–grow back bone instead of cartilage please!!

I’ve actually only had two people sign my cast because we couldn’t find a sharpie anywhere (…). Dave brought one over the other day though, so it’s finally somewhat decorated!

He’s not wrong–I really did win! :P

While I’m sure Ginger Milk Tea can be found in other states, I’m invariably reminded of California/home whenever it comes to milk tea shops, because that’s where my friends and I tended to hang out at (as a matter of  fact, we still do) when we were growing up. (Check out the copycat recipe for Honey Matcha Toast!)

I just came back from chilling with my friend at–wouldn’t you know it–a milk tea shop. He’s one of my oldest friends (we’ve known each other for 18 years), so we were catching each other up on life updates and the like. Before we set out, I was patiently waiting for him to finish playing Minecraft while his cat took a nap on me. (Way back in the day, we tried to get our cats to be friends, but alas, Ninja wasn’t havin’ it and was absolutely terrified.)maomib.Alright, did I digress enough yet? :P Onward to the super simple recipe! I adore ginger, so I don’t really ever need an excuse to drink this, but if you happen to be having any gastrointestinal discomfort, ginger is pretty awesome for relieving it (e.g. nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain)!

This is a 3-ingredient recipe if you don’t consider water to be another ingredient…

Ginger Milk Tea

Ginger Milk Tea

Ingredients:

  • ~3 1/2 cups water
  • 3-5 pieces of peeled ginger, sliced
  • 3 Earl Grey tea bags
  • splash of vanilla soy milk (per cup, to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Bring water + ginger pieces to boil in a small pot. Add tea bags and let steep.
  2. Add soy milk, to taste. You can add sweetener if you’d like, but we opted to exclude that!

    1. Oooo, I love chai tea! That might be why I love this so much too, hehehe. :D!

  9. YUM! I never thought to put ginger in with my tea. I love ginger and have had some ginger teas, but most come with other notes I’m not crazy about. Did you know Califa Farms has a Ginger Almond Milk, Turmeric Blend coming out (if not already)? I had it at Expo West and it was really good! Might be an option when you are out and a about if you are looking for something.
    Happy Foodie Friday!
