Nourishing Meals

I have no words about the events that transpired last night that I can coherently share. So we’re just going to talk about the deliciousness that is the contents of this cookbook instead.

The first few chapters in Nourishing Meals delves into the reasoning behind eating whole foods, eating gluten-free (including common symptoms of gluten intolerance, nutrient deficiencies, and cross-contamination), and a discussion on the rise of food allergies + sensitivities.

If you have kids, the “Raising Healthy Children” chapter will likely be helpful to you! Since I don’t want kids, I just filed it away as information to suggest to my patients. :] It goes through nutrition during pregnancy (which Sonali covered in detail in The Natural Pregnancy Cookbook :P !), the first 3 years, key nutrients for proper development, moving from processed foods to whole foods, how to make it a lifestyle, and how to pack a healthy lunchbox!

The recipes in Nourishing Meals are divided into 12 sections:

Nourishing Meals houses 365 allergy-free recipes total, all of which use whole foods. Each recipe contains a short introduction, the ingredient list, instructions, and serving size. There’s also a “free of” section at the top that lets you know what allergens are missing from each recipe!

My only “gripe” would be that there are very few photos in this cookbook (you know how I love pretty food photos…), but it’s a pretty minor complaint because this book is absolutely packed with all kinds of useful information (forreals–510 pages!).

  • Do you have any food allergies/sensitivities/restrictions?
  • What’s your favorite allergen-friendly recipe?
  • What section of Nourishing Meals would you be most intrigued by?
