Ultimate Coffee Date: May 2026

Welcome to another Ultimate Coffee Date! I’m headed to Monterey for a “senior physicians’ weekend!” (I became a senior physician like 4 years ago, but things got pushed back pretty far because of Covid, so I’m finally going now.) It works out though because one of my med school friends will be attending too + we can hang out + eat dinner in the Monterey Bay Aquarium with the sunfish, otters, and jellyfish! :]

I also went back to the archery range with 2 friends! My groupings are getting better, so we’re going to graduate ourselves to checking out an outdoor course once one of them makes more arrows!

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…my friend got me into playing Pikmin Bloom recently! It’s from the same creators as Pokemon Go but the focus is more on walking + you can get your little creatures to plant flowers as you walk + send them to battle mushrooms with your friends for more nectar/seeds/prizes to feed em’ and plant more flowers.
It is glorious and I walked about 55k more steps than I usually do the first week I got it + even made it to 300k steps last month! If you wanna join me in my crusade, please let me know and we can be frands.

It’s got this cute little “lifelog”/mood tracker it does at 9pm every day where it chooses one of their favorite pictures you took that day too! :]

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I went to my very first Michelin star restaurant in the U.S. last month! I’ve dearly missed my Fat Girl Wednesdays with my friend ever since she moved to south SF, so when she asked if I was free to go to a 10th anniversary event one of her favorite restaurants was putting together, I decided to go for it (treat yo’self!).

The food was phenomenal. ;_;

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I went to a sport psychology clinic/workshop for equestrians last weekend and it was really cool! The psychologist leading it went through how to recognize fear/anxiety, things we could do to help to work through pre-show/post-injury anxiety, how to set more helpful goals in riding, and whole lot of other helpful information. It brought me back to my college exercise biology days. <3 (I should go email my professor!)

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…the weather’s been a little weird lately and warmed up a TON, so I got to go mulberry picking and hiking! :D And then it went back to being super cold (to me) and rainy, so I’m back to being bundled up in multiple layers. Ya win some, ya lose some.

    I have not heard of that game but anything that helps to get people outside and walking more is good! Your horse psych experience sounds interesting. I used to practice psychotherapy back in the day!

  1. Pikim Bloom sounds like something I’d love. I was fanatical about Pokemon for years and finally had to delete it as it consumed me. Haha! Anything that’ gets you out walking can’t be bad, right? Love that you got to work with horses!

  2. That game sounds fun! And more active than Pokemon Go.
    That workshop sounds fascinating. And, have fun in Monterey! Is it a work event or more socializing? Either way I’m sure it will be fun.
