Welcome to another Ultimate Coffee Date!

Ultimate Coffee Date: April 2026

Ultimate Coffee Date: April 2026 | fairyburger.com
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I went to a stationery fest last weekend and it was glorious! So many cute things + it was cool to get to talk with the artists too. :] I got some art prints, a journal bag, and a lot of stickers/washi tape and will be decking out all my journals accordingly!

Speaking of journals, if you journal, do you keep one or multiple? Growing up, I’ve always been a one-journal kinda person but due to accumulating a whole lotta blank journals lately, I feel like I don’t write enough to be able to get through them all anytime soon, so I’ve been toying with the idea of having several different ones. i technically already have my bullet journal/planner, junk journal, and travel journal, so what’s another few (e.g. gratitude journal, actual-journal for my thoughts, maybe a reading one, and one for writing about horseback riding to document my progress + the stuff I learn)?!

There were stamp stations at lots of the different booths so I filled up a couple pages in my junk journals just with stamps alone! That Godzilla stamp was ginormous!

Seeing how other people decorated/wrote in their journals was really inspiring!

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I had acquired some scrap waterproof fabric to make zippered-bags with at the craft retreat I went to back in February + finally found some time to badger my mom into teaching me how to use our home sewing machine + we banged these out!

The stitching does look a little janky but the sewing machine has been temperamental, so I think of it as having a whole lotta personality, haha.

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d ask if you watched the Winter Olympics! I don’t usually, but sometimes will watch ice skating, and I’m so glad I tuned in this  year! <3

Was checking out an art supply store in Oakland and came across here! <3

Also stopped by the fire jam earlier last month again — it was cold, so the fire was pretty helpful for keeping nice and toasty!

I fell down half a flight of stairs earlier last month and also have a random mystery ankle sprain (I don’t think it’s related to the fall, but come to think of it, maybe?). :[ That coupled with trying to do more riding + dancing lately has left me pretty sore lately. I definitely need to stretch more!

  1. Enjoy using your stationary, stickers, etc! It sounds like you had so much fun at the expo.

My mom taught me how to sew when I was a really little girl so I’m a very good seamstress. In fact, I made gorgeous little outfits with smocking insets for my sons when they were little for several Christmas and Easter seasons. I used to make a lot of my own clothes and I’ve also made lots of quilts and window treatments over the years.

That’s terrifying that you fell down half a flight of stairs! I’m glad you weren’t seriously hurt.

    1. Thank you! It was glorious and now I wanna track down a bunch of other stationery fests (but should probably curb the spending a little, haha).

That’s so cool! I took a sewing class and learned how to make a pair of shorts and a skirt/scrunchie when I was little, but I unfortunately forgot everything. It is rustily coming back to me though!

I’m glad too! It was such a dumb slip. :'(

  2. Oof on falling down the stairs. I hope you are feeling better soon.
I am always collecting notebooks at conferences but never use them! The stationery thing sound cool.

    1. Thank you! It was such a dumb moment. :[

Me too! I feel like if I don’t do anything different, I’ll never get to using em’, haha.

  3. I’ve always aspired to keep a journal but it never really stuck. Looks like you you have to some great supplies to start with!

    1. I used to write in one pretty religiously up until grad school/med school and then everything went out the window (but at least I had this blog! haha). I miss actually-writing though so I’m slowly getting back into that! :]

  4. I think it makes sense to have multiple journals if you want to break things up. My main one is like a mix of scrapbooking/junk journaling, but I do have a lot of journals that I should utilize in different ways.

    1. I was basically using my bullet journal as an everything-journal and although I live in an organized chaos, I feel like it’s a little less organized than I’d like right now, so I think I’m gonna try it out and see what happens! If it doesn’t work out, I can always revert back, hehe.

I do know how to dew and I used to do quite a lot. Even quilt.

    Running has taken over. lol.

Nope. No journaling. Just the blog and Fb and Ig.

    1. That’s cool! I never made it that far, but hoping to relearn the basics! :]

I dropped off the face of the planet for a while in journaling because of the blog/FB/IG, but I kinda miss physically writing stuff down, so I’ll see how this goes with getting back into it!

  5. I love all things planning/journaling/stationery/stickers/washi/etc.! I have a YT channel called Amy Rae Plans where I post planner related videos. I don’t journal anymore but I do consider my planners my journals and I use sticker kits and lots of stickers and washi tapes to decorate them. I would love to get into junk journaling some day too. I watched all of the ice skating during the Olympics and some of the other events but I was obsessed with the ice skating.

I do not know how to sew. I learned in 9th grade home economics but never kept doing it after that.

    1. Yay, that’s awesome! I subscribed to your channel! I kinda use my planner as a journal but like the idea of having em’ separate so I have a dedicated space to write more. I love using stickers/washi tape to decorate! :]

I think the closest thing I had to that was our health class in 9th grade but no sewing there. My mom taught me the basics of hand-sewing when I was little though so thankfully I still remember that!

  6. I’ll bet that stationery expo was fun! I have one “calendar” book and then 2 online journals. The paper one is a lot more fun. I really should consolidate all of my travels into one journal. I watched ALL of the Olympic this year as I recovered from hip surgery. Hope your ankle is feeling better!

    1. That’s what I’m planning on doing too! It just feels so daunting to start because I’m so, so behind, haha. :[ Better to start somewhere though than never!

Thank you! I’m still able to do the things I love so I can’t complain — I hope your hip is doing a lot better!

  7. A stationary fest sounds like fun! I love journals, planners, and all things stationary! I keep multiple planners and usually have a couple of journals going at once for general writing and gratitude, and I have a blank notebook that’s been around for a bit and I’m thinking of giving junk journaling a try just as a creative outlet.

    1. There’s another big stationery fest in Houston at the end of this month that I’m really FOMOing on because it keeps popping up on my feed, haha. I need to cool it for a while so I can use up the stuff I currently have though!

I started my junk journal as a creative outlet too and it’s been really fun! :]

  8. All the stickers sound fun! That’s great you were able to make those cute bags! I used to be an avid journal-writer, but I’ve gotten away from it in recent years.

    1. I used to be so good about it! Soon though! :D..

  9. Wow, the stationary fest sounds FUN! I have a bunch of notebooks that I write in randomly, but also this year my planner is ginormous with lots of blank pages, so I’ve just been using that a lot (like for book lists and other random things I want to jot down). I haven’t been journaling regularly though, lately.
I’m pretty sure your fall down the stairs and mysterious ankle sprain are related!!! I hope everything is okay.

    1. I use my current planner to put everything in it too! I was going to continue with that but I’ve accumulated so many things that having dedicated ones feels like a good idea right now. We’ll see whether or not I actually stick to it, hehe.

Thank you! I think you’re right — I just can’t see how else it could’ve gotten this swollen without some kind of a real injury, haha. I’ve still been able to ride/dance/do my usual things with minimal pain, so I’ll take it, hehe.

Your zippered pouches turned out great! The stationary fest sounds like so much fun.

    1. Thank you! :] My mom and I assembly-lined em’ together so I definitely couldn’t have done it without her!

  10. Your journals are so gorgeous! they remind me of scrapbooking back in the day, which I was verrrry into!

    1. haha, I was super into scrapbooking too! I guess what I’m planning is kinda like a cross between the two!

  11. Yeah, I don’t think we did a lot of sewing, just one small project or two. Our big project in that class was making a doll house.

Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel.
