Ultimate Coffee Date: June 2026

Welcome to another Ultimate Coffee Date! I’m a little late in the game today because things have been hectic but hooray for being here! If things look a lil funky, I’m writing this post on my phone. 🥲 Will fix later.

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…the cat distribution services got to me and I’ve adopted a kitten! (His government name is Sushi but we’ve been calling him Sushers [pronounced “Soo-shers”]).

I haven’t had a kitten since 2005 so this chaos potato’s energy levels are definitely something to get used to but he is adorable and for the 5-35 seconds that he is calm in the day, he is very cuddly and sweet. 😅 We’re currently in the “hands/feet are not toys” teaching phase.

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…on the subject of sushi, a new sushi buffet opened near us recently and the food is amazinggggg! We’ve been there twice already and we only discovered it a few weeks back, haha.

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…we decided to try making our own chai lattes at home (+ in bulk so we could have it throughout the week)!

It felt like a nice way to save money and I had recently stocked up on everything we’d need via a Penzey’s Spices sale. It turned out really well! Will be experimenting with different teas in the future to change things up! (It’ll help me to finally make a dent in all the tea I have!)

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I recently got back into drawing/learning to draw. (I feel like collecting art/craft supplies is a hobby all by itself, but one of my ongoing goals has been to finally start using everything!)

I used a purple stardust jelly roll from like 25 years ago to outline a couple of these and it still writes just like it did back then. Madness!!
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…we recently had our dance team photoshoot and I like this random candid that the photographer got of me! (I was practicing my hair flips! 🤣)hair flip!

  • Have you ever tried making your go-to drink order at home? How did it turn out?
  • Do you do any arts/crafts? Do you also have a whole stockpile like I do? (I swear I’m working through everything…just very slowly. 😅)

  1. That hair in action shot is so cool!!
Ooh, a kitten!! How old is he? They are so, so cute but also exhausting. We got Elsa over Christmas when she was 8 weeks old. We didn’t plan this – but our house was suddenly invaded my mice and I was lucky that my personal trainer had kittens and on Christmas Eve he texted me to let me know one was available. Elsa was such a lovely, social kitten but she was absolutely everywhere at once! Chaos indeed! Now she’s 7 months and has settled down a lot since she was ready to go outdoors in April. She’s still lovely and social.
As for go-to drinks, I have a fantastic Gaggia espresso machine, it has kept going for a good 10 years now and every morning I make a flat white. Many times when I take one in coffee shops I think my own is much better!

    1. Thank you!!
He’s about 4.5 months now (+ growing so, so quickly!! I’m really wondering how big he’s gonna end up getting, hehe). So sorry to hear that you had a mouse invasion! Glad to hear Elsa has settled down some and is still social/friendly though! I am hoping to have slightly less chaos soon but also trying to enjoy/appreciate the kitten time since he’ll only ever be a kitten once.
Nice!! That’s awesome that it’s been going for so long — so much money saved (+ so nice to get to customize/make it just the way you want it!)!

Aw, what an adorable new kitten! I do like to dabble in arts and crafts and I too have piles of supplies all over that I always plan to use and yet never really want to use fully so I have some I save “just in case” for “someday.” But others I’m real good about actually using.

    1. haha, I’m in the same boat! I’m finally-finally starting to use things up (slowly but surely)!

  2. Sushi!!!! look at that baby!!!! So so cute! love tuxedo babies! congratulations on your new addition!

I drink a regular old latte or iced latte at home, so pretty easy to make. I had the challenge in April to make my friend Jen her favorite drink, which she is very particular about and I passed the test *phew*

When I did therapy end of last year til February this year, one of the things I learned was resetting my nervous system by coloring and drawing. I can’t draw to save my life but I’ve definitely embraced it! I even did a couple of paintings and started coloring in the coloring books that my dad made decades ago. what I do is just for me because it’s not “good” but it’s good for me and that’s all that matters :)

    1. Thank you!! :] He has so, so much energy — I’m still trying to keep up! :P

Ahh, I love that! I definitely had a hard time with starting things (especially drawing/art) because I want it to look good, but the whole being realistic and enjoying the creative process without caring so much about the end-product has been very freeing! Coloring is so relaxing! :]

  3. Congratulations on adopting Sushi! SO ADORABLE!!!

Oh my gosh! You are such an incredible artist. Those mushrooms you drew are all so pretty. I remember when Jelly Roll gel pens were so popular growing up that our teachers kept telling us not to use them on our homework or tests because they were so hard to read. I have vivid memories of us middle school girls drawing on ourselves and all over our binders/etc. with gel pens.

I love that picture of you flipping your hair! SO FUN!

    1. Aww, thank you! I followed a tutorial for it + it was a lot of fun, so I’m definitely gonna pop back to the artist’s account for more inspiration!

haha, we got the same talk!! They were/are so fun to use though! :D

Thank you! <3 He got me at just the right moment, hehehe.

I am SO happy you got a new fur ball friend! She’s so adorable!

    1. Thank you!! <3 He is pure chaos wrapped into a tiny 4-lb body but he fell asleep purring on my face last night and it was glorious! <3

  4. Omg Sushers is beyond adorable! I’m sure you are smitten!
That sushi buffet looks glorious. What a great find.
I love art supplies but rarely use them. I’m pretty sure I have a watercolor set in the basement. To be fair, baking is now my “art” and I am doing plenty of that. Ha!

    1. He is way too cute! :’)

I’m so glad it exists! :D I just gotta exercise some moderation now, haha.

That’s definitely an art! I’m glad you’ve been getting to do a lot of that!
