Ultimate Coffee Date: August 2026

Welcome to another Ultimate Coffee Date!  If all is going well, I should be in Mongolia camping, riding horses, and learning to do horseback archery! <3 (Here’s to hoping I’ll have a spot of reception to be able to link up…)

Sushi is growing like a weed. I think he’s 8 lbs already and he’s only ~4.5 months old!?! It’s looking like he’s gonna be a ginormous boy!

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…life has been super, super hectic over the past couple weeks. I decided to send out an email to all my adult patients earlier last month to let everyone know I’d be out of the office for 3 weeks, so to “speak now or hold your peace until I return” (if it’s a non-urgent issue). 
I’ve been fielding 50+ emails on the daily (to be fair, some ended up being leftovers from the day(s) before, but still) and packing in 20-25 (maxed out at 30 one day…) patients daily, so I’ve definitely been struggle-bus-ing.
To say that I’ve been looking forward to this vacation would be an understatement, but on the same vein, I’ve also been so busy that I feel woefully unprepared for this trip. (As I write this, it’s actually 3:51 am the morning before I fly out…)

Not all the emails have been all-work though! One of my patients wrote me a poem (inspired by my current travels) — it brought me great joy! 

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I went to my first dance festival (for bachata/salsa!) last month and it was a lot of fun! So much to learn, so many workshops. I think I packed in 20 hours of dancing into 2.5 days, so my feet definitely hated me by the end of it. (Not as much as I thought they would though, but yay for super comfy dance shoes!) 

I managed to get this on the plane without being stopped!

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I found an online video game orchestra that I’m hoping to do recordings for later on this year! :] (Getting to solo Clair Obscur last month made me really miss music and I’d love to have it be a part of my life again! <3)

  1. Okay, Sushi really is big!!! I’m trying to remember how much Sylvie weighed at that age… I know she was less than 5 pounds, because they wanted her to be 5 pounds before they gave her the rabies shot and we had to wait a little. He’s going to be a big boy!
    Enjoy your vacation! It sounds epic. And I love the poem your patient wrote!

    1. He’s ginormous!! I think he’s weighing in at 8-9 lb now and he’s not even at 6 months yet, haha. To think he used to be super underweight! :o

  7. I hope you’re enjoying your well-earned vacation; and I love the poem your patient wrote for you! On Sunday, we’ll be wrapping up week three of our four-week road trip. We’ve already hit six national parks with one more planned assuming the wildfires don’t make it too smokey in Colorado.

    1. Thank you! My mom was super nice + took care of him while I was gone and he’s now maybe 9-10 lb?! He’s not even 6 months yet, so I’m super curious to see if I’m actually raising a puma rather than a house cat (kidding, kidding…)!
