Ultimate Coffee Date: August 2022

Welcome to the 8th Ultimate Coffee Date of 2022! I say this all the time, but this year is seriously flying by. I haven’t done even half the things I had planned to accomplish this year, but…I still  have 4-5 months left, so the day is young!

Ultimate Coffee Date: August 2022

My friend and I took a walk down memory lane and found a bunch of painted rocks with inspirational quotes over at our high school!

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I recently joined a book club!  (I haven’t been in one since the virtual one I joined several years back!)

My workplace apparently started one up somewhere last year and they supply the book and lunch + members meet once every 1-2 months to discuss.

I found out about it at a recent meeting and just received my  book (The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue) yesterday afternoon. Our meeting is in a week, so I’m gonna have to do some speed-reading!

M’s best friend moved about an hour away from us so we’ve been hanging out lately and he made us sushi from scratch a couple weeks ago! *-* We’ll hopefully be having lots more foodie hangouts soon! :]

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that my friend is staying with me for the week and we’re having a long-awaited reunion with my closest friends (6F) this weekend!!! (It’s been 3 years since we’ve all met up together. :[ ) We have lots of fooding and catching up planned!

Her dog has been staying with us as well and she and Muffin have been routinely stealing each other’s food/beds.

Muffin likes to silently judge her from up above, but they will sunbeam together. It’s adorable. <3

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I have a wholeeee lot of content that I’ve been wanting to put together to post, but have been vaguely unmotivated, mostly due to being super swamped at work lately. (Have been forcebooking 3-4 extra appointments on the daily for the past month. ._.)

Planning to get to it soon — even just 1-2 extra posts a month would be a stark improvement from now! I’ve been saying this all year thus far, but hopefully I’ll actually make good on it this month!!

The dog search is [passively] still going at the moment, but due to all the craziness at work lately (and the loss of one virtual unit for each of us :| ), we are unfortunately going to have to postpone. My heart is sad but it’s technically for the best for right now.

I met her on a recent hike and she was such a sweetie!! <3 Twas like having pet therapy whilst on a hike! :]

  1. How fun that you joined a book club! Another step closer to normal. You know I love to read!

I feel you on the workload! I just wrote about it in my weekly post on Sunday. I’m seriously considering leaving. Working in healthcare is terrible right now.

    1. I managed to finish the book in time for the book club today! (So proud, hahaha.)

I’m so sorry. :[ I really hope things get better all around soon — this isn’t sustainable.

  2. I used to be in a fun book club enjoy! Still lots of time to get that to do list done. Nice to have you for coffee today

    1. haha, yep! Things have vagueeely calmed down this weekend so I’m gonna try to start tackling it today!

  3. How cool that your work supports a book club like that — but I feel your pain on the workload over load!

I was hoping that was your new dog in the photo. Maybe Muffin isn’t too disappointed though!

    1. It’ll be a nice break for sure!

haha, I wish!! :[ My friend was visiting with her dog and I think she didn’t mind her presence all that much, but she does probably prefer being the center of attention. :P

  4. I’ve been in a few book clubs, off and on, but it’s been a while. That sounds great to have it at work!

That’s encouraging that Muffin is co-existing with a dog. When you find the right one, Muffin might be too bummed. I never free fed my animals so they basically didn’t have the chance to steal food, but I’m sure they totally would if they had the chance!

Your friend’s sushi looks amazing. We took a sushi making class a long time ago. The problem was it doesn’t keep, and my husbands refused to make less sushi rice so there would be massive amounts — not great for just 2 people.

    1. It’ll be fun to meet new people and talk! :]

I hope she won’t be, but if new-dog likes to steal her food, I doubt she’ll be too thrilled. We’ll figure something out! :P

Yeah, it’s definitely harder with just two people, but great for a get-together!

  5. I’ve never been in a book club, although I love to read. You’ll have to tell us how yours works out. And I’ve never read that book. Right now I’m reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. So good!!!
I like how you and Muffin both have guests right now. I think my Muffin would like a dog- she likes everyone. Sorry work has been so crazy. Is there any relief in sight? It sounds hard.
Good luck getting those blog posts up- I’m looking forward to reading them!

    1. It was a lot of fun! We’re gonna meet every 2-ish months and will be voting on the next book soon! :] The Help has been on my to-read list for a while — I’ll have to check that out sometime soon!

Sadly, not really, but we like to keep hoping anyway, haha.

      Thank you! :]

Watch the Seinfeld Couch episode or see clip on YouTube where George tries to cheat on his book club….

    1. I found the one where he brought a book into the bathroom and got blacklisted, but still searching for the book club one! :P

  6. I used to have a book club! But eventually we all moved around and it broke up. Luckily I’m still friends with several of the great women I met. Nice that your workplace has that!

Friend reunions are the best! I’m looking forward to something like that in October when I’m back in the states!

I’m sure you’ll have your dog when the time is right!

My goal is this month is to get through this month haha! I saw a meme yesterday and I was like “yep. That’s me”. I hope things calm down for you a bit at some point!

    1. Aww, that’s hard, but that’s awesome that you’re still friends!

Agreed on friend-reunions — it was so nice to see them all again! :]

It appears the time is not right right now but hopefully sometimeee. *-* In the meantime, Muffin will have to deal with me, hehehe.

Thank you! I really hope so too.

  7. Some friends and I had a book club and our books would be in Spanish. It was fun! Love it that your work place provides the book and lunch. Food is important.

    1. Ooo, that’s so cool! I sadly cannot read enough Chinese to get anywhere close to finishing even a chapter, but that would be so cool! (Yay for food though — definitely important!)

  8. I haven’t been in a book club before but, from what I understand, it’s definitely important to have good food and beverages 🍣🍷

I really like these coffee date posts – it’s a great way to casually let folks know what’s been going on when you’re short of time. I’m tempted to borrow the idea as I haven’t been able to write up any trips lately!

    1. That sounds about right — food definitely adds to the appeal! :P

Feel free to join in! I’ve been so bad about writing other posts that this has been the only constant posting I’ve been doing lately — hopefully that’ll change in the upcoming months though. I have so much I need to write up!

Love that you joined a book club. Did you finish the book and like it? Your friend’s dog is a cutie and I can never get over how adorable Muffin is. Love seeing that kitty’s face. I’m sorry your dog search is sort of postponed. I know it will happen when it’s the right time. I can’t wait to virtually meet your dog!

    1. I liked it! It was an interesting premise and definitely made me think. It was a bit long, but I probably only thought that because I got the book kinda late and had about a week to finish it, haha.

I will definitely be introducing him/her here when it finally happens!! <3
