If we were having tea today, I’d…ask how your holiday season went! I was working in the hospital over Christmas, but I did get to celebrate a little early with my program via holiday crafts (we painted mason jars to make our own mugs/candle holders), White Elephant, and lots of delicious food! :P

I got a freezable salad container + an infuser water bottle!

The hospital also had a free holiday dinner for its employees! The cupcakes were so pretty! :]

If we were having tea today, I’d tell you that… I’m trying to teach my cat to sit on my shoulder the way Hermie and Ethel from Please Save A Cat do. We’re not having too much success at the moment, but she’ll balance on my arm + shoulder, so I guess that’s progress! Observe:

If we were having tea today, I’d tell you that… they unveiled one of the things they’ve been working on in the hospital–we’re apparently getting a Starbucks! I’m rather excited for more drink variety in the hospital! :O

If we were having tea today, I’d tell you that… I spent the New Year’s weekend with Trish! We spent the first night in NJ where I live and played Organ Attack and Cards Against Humanity with Chris. Since we only had 3 people for CAH, we had a added “Rando” as a player (aka randomly drew cards for a “4th player”) and he almost won. ._. This one that my friend got was a real winner though:

On Saturday, we went to Brooklyn last weekend to ring in the new year with my friend, Trish! We went to the Dekalb Market and had a whole bunch of food. I got to try the jerk chicken and a fruity pebbles rice krispy treat.

We also made our own New Year’s Eve dinner!! The recipes to make this will be popping up over the next couple weeks on Foodie Friday!

We had a pretty low-key lazy day, which was definitely a welcome change after the past two weeks!

  1. I can’t help but wonder if you ever sleep? ;-) You are always on the go! My New Years was dinner out with some friends, a visit to a local wine bar, and back home by 10:15. We had a sick (college-aged) kid at home and the mom guilt got the best of me. Happy 2018!

    1. haha, I promise that I do! I’m just accustomed to sleeping less. :P

Happy 2018 to you as well! I’m glad you got to spend some time with your friends, and I hope your kid is feeling better now! :]

  2. Believe it or not, I have never played CAH! It looks like something I”d like, tho.

The hospital Christmas dinner–they try, don’t they?

    1. It’s a fun one, but definitely needs to be played with friends who have similar-ish senses of humor!

  4. You know I’d be all over the new Starbucks! My son’s cat will sit on shoulders — sort of like a wrap. ;-)

    1. hahaha, it’s the best! That’s part of why I’d like Muffin to learn–she can be my catscarf around the house and we can keep each other warm!! :P

  5. My plans for NYE consisted of reading and snuggling with the dogs to keep them from freaking out too much from all the fireworks! Looks like you had a fun holiday even with workingl

    1. That sounds like an awesome low-key way to spend the holidays! I hope they weren’t too freaked out! I always worry about pets during July 4th! :[[

  6. I just played CAH for the first time a couple of weeks ago – some of those cards are pretty outrageous ;) And, how cool that you can train your cat! I didn’t know they’d do that!

My husband, our friend, and I also played Cards Against Humanity with a rando player once – except we pretended it was Howard, our house plant. So we dealt Howard in and randomly chose cards from his stack. He actually almost won and had some of the best cards the whole game! It was hilarious. Happy holidays to you, Farrah! I hope 2018 is a magical, wonderful, awesome year for you.

    1. hahaha, oh Howard! That’s hilarious! :P We were definitely getting a kick out of the fact that our rando player was winning, but I’m glad he didn’t. :D.. I hope you had an awesomenew year, and that 2018 will be amazingly wonderful for you as well! <3!!

  11. We don’t usually do anything planned for New Years. This year, I volunteered at a race and then listened/watched the ball drop webcast from Times Square while I made chili. We watched the movie New Year’s Eve and ran out to watch the fireworks over the Las Vegas Strip from our parking lot. It was kind of perfect!

Oh, what is a freezable salad container? Do people freeze salad?
Clarinda recently posted…The first Ultimate Coffee Date of 2018 – Join Me!My Profile

    1. That sounds pretty cool! I don’t typically do anything special for New Years either–last year, I was coincidentally out on a backpacking trip with my brother and his friends, haha. Chili would be perfect right now considering the weather we’ve been having! :[

I was confused about that when I first got it too, but it’s more of a lunch container for you to put your salad in and there’s a freezable piece that you put in the middle that keeps the rest of it cool til lunchtime!

  12. Having a drink variety is never a bad thing. Once a coffee lover, always one!! And that cupcake does look tempting.

    1. Agreed! :P I’m all about teas, but I like the smell of coffee, so this will fix both of those! :P

  13. I barely made it to midnight on New Year’s…that’s better than I do most years though!

  14. Those mason jars look like so much fun (I love mason jars!).

Our NYE was very low key. We made our own sushi — took a sushi making class for my husband’s birthday back in Sept. It was fun (if not quite like sushi at a restaurant).

    1. Me too! They’re so darn versatile!

That sounds awesome! I love sushi! <3

  15. I love that you got to celebrate the hospital despite being at the hospital! My new years was a pleasant surprise, it was too cold to make any major plans so we just went to watch jumanji and it was reallllly funny! Rang in the new year with a lot of laughs!

Aww, I remember reading that book when I was younger–I need to go see the movie! That’s an awesome way to ring in the new year! :]

  16. Angel always loved that the hospital would feed the staff that was working big holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas for free. Guess we never really outgrew the college students’ appreciation for free food! :P Glad you were able to celebrate even in the middle of a busy work schedule!
Rachel G recently posted…Baby Update: 32 WeeksMy Profile

    1. Most definitely! ;P I worked Thanksgiving last year and they gave us a free dinner then too, which I definitely also appreciated!!

  17. Alex’s first year of fellowship has basically been like intern year of residency. He’s been working a ton, and that isn’t going to change until August, when the new baby fellows start to take call. But we still got to have some fun this holiday season!
    I need that cupcake.

    1. Oh goodness–intern year wasn’t thatttt bad but I wouldn’t ever want to do it again. x_x Hope he’s hanging in there! I’m glad you guys still got to have some fun during the holidays! <3
