Pear and Fig Baked Brie Dip

Welcome to our weekly Foodie Friday link up! I’m linking up with Annmarie from the Fit Foodie Mama + Esther from Chocolate Runner Girl to create awesome healthy recipes each week! This week’s theme = 5 Ingredients + Under!

How’s the weather where you are? I know it’s supposed to be spring now but I’m really not feelin’ it because of this crazy weather we’ve been having. The saving grace is that it hit right before and right after my parents’ visit, so at least they didn’t freeze and were able to get here and back home safely!

I haven’t actually seen my family since last May and this was the first time they’d been able to visit me so I was super excited! I hope they had fun–I had a free weekend and also took a day off so I could take them all over NYC’s Chinatown (as well as parts of NJ). Being the magical deal-finder that she is, my mom managed to find reasonably-priced (<$70) tickets to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway!!! :O!!! It’s been her dream to watch this for the past several decades so I’m super glad it got to happen. <3 I’ve never seen her so happy! <3

P.S. I also found out that I passed my boards on the day that they arrived from the airport. :]! At long last!!!

…but on to this recipe. :P

I actually made a baked brie with a few of my friends several years back–it was amazingly delicious and only required 4 ingredients (check out our recipe for Kahlua Baked Brie)! My friend and I actually originally meant for this to not be a dip, but life happens and you learn to roll with the punches (we took the brie outta the fridge too early and baked it a bit too long).

No matter though, because it’s still absolutely delicious and super easy to make! If you’re in need of a tasty appetizer, look no further! :]

Prep: Cook: Yield: 4Total:

You'll Need...

  • 1 wedge brie
  • 2-3 tbsp fig jam
  • 2 medium pears, diced
  • dash of cinnamon
  • 1/2 loaf french bread, sliced

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cover a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  3. Spread jam and diced pears over the brie and add the cinnamon.
  4. Bake for 5-7 minutes if you want it to keep its shape, or bake for ~10-12 minutes and mix together to form a dip.
  5. Serve with slices of bread (or crackers)!

Additional Notes

Leave the brie in the fridge until you're ready to use it! If you're not planning on wrapping puff pastry around the brie/jam/pears (yet another variation to this recipe), be sure to keep watch over it in the oven--you only want it to be somewhat melty!
