Welcome to the second-last Ultimate Coffee Date of the year! October was a super busy (but fun!) month for me.
Ultimate Coffee Date: November 2025
Part of it involved finally going down to San Diego to get the fire toys my friend picked up for me back in March!
I made several friends at the hostel and checked out the farmers market, got another library card, + tried out the California burritos + took advantage of the Taco Tuesdays.
I also hung out with one of my friends from elementary school! (We even went up to LA over the weekend for our other friend’s birthday at a ninja warrior course! :P)
I need to stretch again to get my splits back, hahaha.
My friend also got us free tickets for a cruise in the San Diego bay with 3 floors of dancing! (Bachata on the top floor, cumbia on the second floor, and reggaeton on the bottom floor.)
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I’d tell you that I got some super, super sweet comments from patients recently! Comments like this make my day and keep me going on the harder days. :’] <3
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I’d tell you that the pen show that I went to has unfortunately(?) opened up the floodgates. (I have so many stickers/stationery/pens now…) I went to a stationery/journaling meetup (actually two of em’, but I only have photos from one, haha) over the weekend! It was a lot of fun + we nerded out and took fancy photos of all our fountain pens.
There were goodie bags for all the attendees + a little raffle number in each! Mine said “*74*” and apparently this was the grand prize + I won a box of 74(?!?) jelly roll pens! Not sure if you’ve used these before but these were the absolute shiz when I was in school. I still love them now, so I’m very excited! :]

Fun to go back to your old town of San Diego I bet. Surfing lessons are fun and more challenging than it looks. I did it once in Hawaii! Looks like you are having lots of fun. Nice to get such positive feedback from your patients!

I didn’t realize it’d been so long! (I think the last time I went was for a medical conference from back when I was still in medical school–feels so long ago!)
I’m going to Thailand in January and hoping to do some more surfing there also! :]

How fun to return to San Diego… I remember that you want to try surfing.
When I was in college, I stayed in hostels in Europe… it was a great way to meet people.
It was a lot of fun! Agreed on the hostels — I especially love it for when I’m solo-traveling! :]
You’ve been busy! That’s fun with all the pens! Do you plan to use them for writing or for drawing? Both?
hehe, this was a collective photo of everyone’s pens! :] Mine is the transparent/blue one next to the purple pen case — I use it mostly to write right now but am hoping to get back into drawing again! Wanting perfection is my enemy though. :'(

Oh my goodness! The pens! I love pens and papers and stickers, and planners…. oh, planners. Are you going to journal or just hoard them like I do?

hahaha, I have been hoarding but I have also been journaling! One of my goals this year was to finally start using all the stuff I’ve been accumulating (I feel like so often, I save things for a “special occasion,” but honestly, we never know what tomorrow brings and every day kinda is an occasion of sorts, so time to actually start using em’! :]
Those are such nice comments from your patients. How sweet of them to acknowledge the exceptional care you give to them. Sounds like you’ve really been having fun with your friends as well!
