Ultimate Coffee Date: March 2021

Welcome to the Ultimate Coffee Date! Come catch up on life/hang out with me virtually! (I hope you had a better February than I did. :[ )

Ultimate Coffee Date: March 2021

Ultimate Coffee Date | March 2021

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that we had to say goodbye to Ninja a couple weeks ago. :[ I still miss her every day and the house feels emptier without her. :[

In happier times. <3 :[

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I had some extra time that I worked saved up + had to use up, so I’ve been off this week and it’s been a much-welcomed break. It’s been nice being able to discover random places in the area, be it hikes or local eateries for takeout (gotta support local businesses!).

It’s been really helpful for taking my mind off things too.

Ultimate Coffee Date | March 2021

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I managed to snag one of the last two remaining reservation spots left to see the firefall in Yosemite.

The firefall usually happens mid- to late February and when the conditions are justttt right (aka cloudless sky and the setting sun hits Horsetail Fall at the perfect angle), it makes the waterfall glow an orange-y red.

We almost-almost missed it, but thanks to some deductive reasoning/teamwork and some last-minute sprinting, we managed to kindasorta catch it!

  1. Oh, Farrah! I am so sorry for your loss of Ninja! They do become part of our families, don’t they? It’s good that you can have some time off right now.

Your take-out looks absolutely delicious. That soup!!!

Thanks for sharing the photo of Firefall with us. I’ve been to Yosemite, but never at this time of year.

    1. They definitely do. :( The time off was really nice to just get away (even if it was just locally) for a while.

      It was super good! :D

I’m so glad we managed to not miss it!

  2. I’m so sorry about your loss of Ninja. It’s so hard to lose a furry family member. Sigh….We sure do love our pets, don’t we?

How cool that you got to see Firefall at Yosemite. When I ran Big Sur in 2016, we took a side trip to Yosemite and fell in love. I’ll have to keep Firefall in mind for next time. And I’ve been to Tucson too–I really liked it, better than Phoenix. It’s so much more authentic SW, isn’t it? I’ll have to check out your posts.

    1. For sure. :( It was horrible having to say goodbye to her but I’m so grateful to have had her for the past 15.5 years. <3

It definitely seems to be! I'd really like to explore more of Tucson if I get a chance to go back sometime!

  3. Sorry to hear about your sweet Ninja. Fireball looks & sounds amazing! Glad you were able to see it at the optimal time :-)

    1. Thank you! We were so close to missing it–glad we decided to sprint instead of giving up, hehehe.

  8. RIP sweet Ninja — I know that pain all too well. You did all you could, and Ninja’s no longer in pain.

I have never heard of the firefall! How cool is that! We went to Yosemite before we got married, and I’m not even gonna say how many decades ago that was!

All that food looks so yummy.

    1. Thank you <3 Knowing she's no longer suffering is the biggest relief, but we miss her so, so much.

That's awesome that you went then! :] I love it there but the usual crowds/parking can be difficult — they've gotten wayyy better on that due to COVID19 though (silver linings?)!

  9. Oh Gosh, I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is always heartbreaking. Glad you got some much needed time off.

    1. Thank you <3 I'm glad for the time we got to have with her, and the break/time off definitely helped to take my mind off things.
