Berry Dessert Toast

Welcome to our weekly Foodie Friday link up! I’m linking up with Annmarie from the Fit Foodie Mama, Esther from Chocolate Runner Girl + Jess from Hello To Fit to create awesome healthy recipes each week! Today’s theme = “Panini!” Free For All!

I was going to come up with something exciting and wonderful but I’m still in the midst of trying to save money/use up everything I already have, so you do still get a recipe–it just doesn’t really have all that much to do with paninis. If you want something grilled, maybe try my Pineapple Chicken Quesadillas!

If not, carry on for a deliciously easy 5-ingredient Berry Dessert Toast recipe! :D

Not too long ago, I won Sarah’s giveaway for my own jar of Chocmeister! For those who knew me way back when (high school), I used to eat Nutella by the spoonful. This tastes just like it, but has less sugar!

Part of the reason for such a simple recipe is also because I was on my 2-week surgery rotation when I made this, and ain’t nobody got time for making complex foods during surgery. :O I made overnight oats and containers of chicken + cauliflower (or spinach) with pineapple fried rice for the week and existed on that for a while.

Apparently, I’m onto something with the overnight oats because I’m definitely not the only one at the hospital who does this. One of my med students (did I mention that I had med students?! 3 of them to be exact) said it was going to completely change his life.

Good to know I’m inspiring people left and right with my food decisions? :P

P.S. I hope you remember this plate. (I finally unearthed it from my kitchen rubble!)

5-Ingredient Berry Dessert Toast

5 Ingredient Berry Dessert Toast

Prep Time3 minutes
Total Time3 minutes
Course: Dessert, Snack
Cuisine: American
Keyword: 5 ingredients + under, easy, quick
Servings: 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 slice whole wheat bread
  • 3/4 - 1 tbsp Chocmeister hazelnut spread
  • 3 strawberries sliced
  • 9-10 blueberries
  • sprinkle of unsweetened coconut flakes to taste

Instructions

  • Toast the bread.
  • Spread Chocmeister hazelnut spread onto the bread and top with all other ingredients!

If you have a little more time and want to get super fancy, you could always prepare the bread as you would with French toast and then top it with all this goodness. …I may have to do that this weekend. >_>
