Ultimate Coffee Date: September 2016

Hi everyone! What’s been going in your life? Pull up a chair and come catch up with life with me for the Ultimate Coffee Date!

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…it actually feels a little weird to be blogging again because I didn’t blog for so much of last month (oh, the wonders of scheduling posts into the future!). Sadly, the queue is running low, so I’m going to have to start writing again.

P’muff decided to randomly walk by my knee and take a soft chomp on it the other day, so I lightly flattened her butt on my bed with part of my foot and she wasn’t too thrilled about this disciplinary action.

Look at this face:

She’s about 100% done with me.

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I’m now PALS-certified (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)!

I discovered the existence of this “Boogie Board” during the course and it’s pretty darn awesome. I think it’d be pretty useful for studying or taking notes on patients while I’m at the hospital, but it’s not as inexpensive as I thought it’d be, so I will stick to my good ol’ scrap paper and save some money/repurpose as per usual.

On an entirely different note, there’s a restaurant (Tacoria) somewhat close to where I work with delicious food and I kinda get a kick outta their tip jar every time I see it. I’ll leave you to guess which container I always see money in…

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…there is a grand total of one whole day out of the year where all 15 of us (FM residents) have the same day off to go on a retreat. We were all for a beach day at Asbury Park but the weather had other ideas and there was 100% chance of rain, so we ended up going bowling instead.

It was a lot of fun, but I still wanted a beach day to happen, so Trish and I made plans to go to Ocean City on one of our mutually free weekends! :D

Since the last beach I went to was in Hawai’i, let’s just say that I’ve become even more of a total wimp when it comes to cold water.

Trish: Sometimes you just gotta grab your boobs and jump in.
Farrah: That’s some sound life advice right there.
T: It’s not even that bad!

(For the record, she was not wrong with the life advice, but her second statement was uttered whilst hiding behind me. My hero. :o )

We played in the waves until they started getting somewhat violent, at which point we returned to our umbrella and lay around for a while.

We also got a lot of walking in. :D...

  1. So I was reading your post and then got distracted by that boogie board and went googling and now I pretty much need one! How cool! I feel like I had something similar when I was a kid, actually – but probably a low tech version :P

Jesse’s interest in Pokemon Go has waned lately – which is actually kind of annoying as I liked all the walking, haha!

    1. Isn’t it awesome!?!? I wish it was a little less expensive (or that the battery was easily replaceable)–if it was, I’d get it in a heartbeat! :P I think I had a low-tech version of this when I was a kid too–I wonder if they still make those…

Noo! Tell him about the buddy pokemon thing they’re inputting in there! It’ll be more incentive to walk since you get to choose a Pokemon to level up! :D

So….any Lapras or Seel pop up whilst you were out there?

    1. Lots of Seels but not a single Lapras in sight!

  2. Oh yay PALS! I’ve taken it so many times (I’ve been in peds for 30 years–yikes!) that I could do it in my sleep. Which I think is kind of the point, right?

I have cut back on Pokemon Go. But yesterday at work I actually went outside for a walk during lunch. I pulled out my phone but only got an Eevie. I was very disappointed!

    1. haha, yes! :P I hope to be at that point for my medical decision-making someday! *-*

Eevees are wonderful (but I guess I’m a little biased because I rarely ever see them). I’m kinda excited that they’re coming out with this new “Buddy Pokemon” thing so you can choose one to level up as you walk now! :D!

  3. Hah! Great life advice! For the ocean you do just have to dive in – then it feels great! Thanks for joining us for coffee!

    1. Agreed! It’s just the initial getting in part that’s the hardest! :P

  4. I LOVE that tip jar!

    1. haha, it was very accurate life advice! :P

My queue is unfortunately running low, so I’m going to have to go on a writing frenzy again!

Thanks so much and I’m so glad you ladies host this every month! <3

  6. Beautiful beach! I’m hoping to hit up Daytona Beach soon…here in Florida, our summer isn’t really over. ;)
I don’t play Pokemon Go, I am odd in that I tend to avoid most things that become popular. I also avoided Harry Potter and have only ever seen the first movie.

    1. Yay, I hope you have fun! And ah, I’m really going to miss summer (although I do love fall foods, so I guess it’s okay–it’s just winter that I’m not particularly looking forward to!).

I’ve still never seen all the Harry Potter movies! :O

  7. Congrats on getting certified!! That’s so cool! I love the tip jar idea, haha. I think my money would go the same place yours does ;) #ohcanadaaaa

    1. hehe, I definitely got a kick outta that! (And ah, I’d so love to be back in Hawai’i! <3)

I hope you have a great weekend!

  10. I never got to the beach (again) this summer :O It’s sad…really sad :/

    1. Noooo! Maybe one o’ these days!? How’s the move going!?

  11. My sound life advice? Always say “yes”. Someone asks you to go out for a drink after work? Say yes. Sleep deprived but invited out to a night on the town? Say yes. Saying yes opens up possibilities you can’t even imagine! I don’t play Pokeman Go, but I see all the kids playing when I’m out running. There is so much more activity out in my local park right now thanks to this app. I love seeing so many people outside, even if they are looking at their phone!

    1. That’s true! I’ve definitely been trying to open myself up to more possibilities and life experiences! :]!

haha, yay! I like that they’re at least getting some vitamin D out while they’re outside!
