We have a new co-host, Cassandra! :] Make sure you stop by her blog!

So…on to Foodie Friday! I’m going to be very honest here.

…I’m not a big fan of football. (Please don’t throw things at me! :[ )

It’s not actually football’s fault. I just don’t really watch sports in general, other than gymnastics (and dance, if you consider that to be a sport!). This may sound weird since I [think I] want to subspecialize in Sports Medicine, but here’s the thing–I’d much rather be playing sports than watching, although every sport I’ve ever done tends to be either an individual sport or a “team” sport with individualistic aspects (e.g. powerlifting, pole dancing, BJJ, dance). I’m apparently a loner(-ish).

Back in the days of dating Secondary Ex, a die-hard Phillies/Eagles/Flyers fan, I would watch games mostly because I liked spending time with him and didn’t care what it was that we were doing. (It was also really hilarious to see him getting so worked up over every game.) So I did in fact sit through many a football game, once upon a time. :O We ate really healthy stuffs (he’s the dude who got me started on my whole journey of lifting and healthy living and all that good stuff), so our football foods probably weren’t what would be considered the norm. If I’m not mistaken, he’s also the one responsible for introducing me to the wonderful world of sweet potatoes, so into finger-food form they go!

Sweet Potato Fries

>sweetpotatofries

Ingredients:

  • 1 ginormous sweet potato*
  • 1 tbsp EVOO
  • dash of sea salt
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • garlic powder, to taste
  • paprika, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat toaster oven to 450.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Cut the sweet potato into ~1/4-in.”-thick pieces. (If you want to make your life infinitely easier, microwave it in 20-30 second intervals until it’s easier to stab through!)
  4. Combine EVOO with spices in a small bowl and toss fries in it!
  5. Spread fries evenly on baking sheet.
  6. Cook for 20 minutes (or until fries are browned), turning occasionally.

You can bake these in the oven too, but I felt like it was a total waste to turn on the oven for a single sweet potato.

End-of-Week-ish Recap!

    1. haha, sounds like we’d get along! That’d be one of my deciding factors on whether or not I’d attend the party! :P

  5. First off, everyone knows that the best part of football is eating/drinking, haha. Especially when it comes to Superbowl Sunday. Second, these look SO GOOD! Definitely going to have to try these out soon…and since the BF doesn’t like sweet potatoes, it looks like I’ll be on my own eating these and I’m completely okay with that.

    1. No worries! The only reason I’ve been even somewhat on top of things = the fact that my preceptor’s on vacation this week. (I still haven’t gotten anywhere close to finishing all the things I need to get done though. :[ )

Thanks for stopping by though! :D I’m probably going to raid the grocery store for more soon! :]
