Ultimate Coffee Date: March 2020

Welcome to the Ultimate Coffee Date! Why does it always feel like there are 23948204 things that need to be done?!

Ultimate Coffee Date: March 2020

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you a couple weeks ago, I went snowboarding for the first time since…the beginning of high school. (I’ve only gone maybe 3 times in my life.) I slipped on ice the night before and slammed my tailbone onto the icy concrete driveway, so that kinda sucked.

I’m definitely not great at it but I’m learning (slowly)! I have a major issue in worrying about breaking something or smashing into other people, so I make myself fall so it’s in a controlled manner (sigh). I was super proud to not fall off the chair lift though.

The sunsets in Tahoe are gorgeous though! <3! I need to go back there to go hiking!

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that my brother’s friend recently re-opened/rebranded their restaurant over in San Jose! I know most of my readers are kinda from all over the country, butttt if you happen to live in the bay area/south bay, you should definitely CheeseCups out (my Yelp review is here)!

Smashed Coconut Avocado drink, aka one of my newest favorite drinks! <3

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I have a ballroom dance performance at the end of this month! It’s been a lot of fun to learn (even if I did get dropped while we were practicing the Death Drop…)–I’ll try to get photos/videos to share (probably on IG or FB)! :]

The event we’re performing at is a cosplay ball and I finally found a character who’d be vaguely low-effort to cosplay. :P Will be sharing photos at some point!

Totally not related to the performance, but I’ve been loving the catered lunches we’ve been getting at work meetings lately!

  1. I’m a skier through and through but my son snowboards. Hurting you tailbone on ice is no joke! Good luck with the dancing.

Thanks for joining us for coffee!

    1. Thankfully it seems to have healed up!! Thank you! I hope I don’t mess up! :P

  2. I’m pretty good about staying away from the catered lunches, lol! I had food poisoning from one many years ago but I sure haven’t gotten over my fear of that. I am going to a conference today and will eat the food…

That smashed coconut avocado drink sounds yummy!

    1. Haha, I still have food-hoarding tendencies as a residual from…all school and residency. :p fingers crossed for no food poisoning!!

It’s so good! I need to go back next weekend! :p

  3. Wow! That’s your catered lunch for a meeting? Sign me up! We live 3000 miles away from the Bay Area but it’s one of my absolute favorite places to visit. My son used to live in Berkeley and work in SF so we went there often. I need a good excuse to go back!

    1. It was a super tasty lunch! :]

It’s a fun place to visit–I love all the food variety! :P I’ve definitely missed living here!

  4. Oh my gosh! I am so excited for your performance! I want to take ballroom dancing again, but my husband doesn’t dig it and I think it would be weird to have a different partner. I took almost 15 years of ballet, tap and jazz growing up.

I have never tried snowboarding and to be honest, after my broken leg, I don’t think I’ll ever feel safe skiing again :( The ski lift is hard to navigate.

    I want a catered lunch!

    1. Aww, darn. :[ I’m sorry to hear that!

That’s completely understandable. :[ I definitely have a fear of getting injured so I tend to make myself have a controlled fall to avoid injury.

I’ve been getting rather spoiled! :D..

  5. I’ve never been Skiing, and don’t really want to. But Snowboarding is so much fun. I’ve only went once, when I visited Klamath Falls in 8th grade- though I think I liked the ice skating better, personally! I used to do Ballet, too, and I miss that as well. Sadly the closest I’ve come to it in a decade is the ballet workout videos I do occasionally.

As for drinks? Definitely Tea. All Tea. Any Tea. Tea is God. Deathwish Coffee’s specialty blends are a close second, though; I always look forward to their limited releases (juuust got my Irish Cream specialty blend in, just in time for my Lent break for St. Paddy’s day!)

    1. Klamath Falls! I’d love to go there someday! Ice skating would be fun too–I haven’t gone too often but I’ve always liked it! Ballet workouts sound like they’d be fun too!

Yay for tea! That’s definitely one of my favorites! :D I love the smell of coffee but can’t have it that often because it keeps me up forever!

      1. I visited my Grandmother who lived up there- not the best woman, but at least I got to try ice skating finally, lol. As for Coffee, hard same. Especially if I drink Death Wish. I usually dilute it because of that. So I’ll take 1/2 coffee, 1/2 water, and then sugar and creamer to taste. Definitely helps cut it when I have to share a pot with the rest of the house lol.

        1. Aww, sorry to hear, but glad you got to try out that coffee! I often dilute when I really wanna try it but don’t want to be awake forever! :P

    1. Sorry about that! My spam filter is really enthusiastic! x_x

      1. Totally understandable, lol!

        1. I’m sorry on behalf of my blog! :P

  7. Snow boarding or skiing? Neither for me…too klutzy LOL Hope you’re healing up and feeling better…that’s a painful spot!

    1. Thank you! It’s a tiny bit sore when I run around but otherwise ok!

  8. I am definitely too scared to snowboard! I think I am too old to learn how. Used to ski but not anymore. Thanks for joining for coffee today

    1. I definitely have a very healthy amount of fear, hahaha. :/ But it’s also super fun, so I’m trying to balance that out in my head! Thanks for co-hosting!

  9. I had to take a ballroom dancing practicum course as part of my undergrad, it was surprisingly fun!

    1. That’s awesome! I kinda wish I’d learned earlier, but better late than never! :D

  10. I’ve never snowboarded. I’ve gone skiing a few times, but not for a long time, and I really don’t like (read: hate) it. I live in Chicago but I am in the Bay area at least two or three times a year, so I will check the restaurant out!

    1. Ooo, yay! Hope you like it (let me know what you think! :])! I’m hoping to head back this or next weekend!

  11. I wish I lived in San Jose so that I could try out that restaurant!

    1. I need to go back soon! *-*

  12. I love Tahoe – it’s beautiful out there! I’ve done snowboarding (no skiing) but it’s been awhile and I never got the hang of it to go fast. Considering learning how to ski but we didn’t make it to the mountains this season.

    1. It’s definitely beautiful out there–I wanna go back to hike there! :D

I’m hoping I can go at least one more time before the snow leaves!

  13. Good luck on your dance!! A cosplay event sounds fantastic. I do tap dance and hip hop, and I really do love both! Oh my god – I love that sunset!!
