Welcome to June’s Ultimate Coffee Date!
Ultimate Coffee Date: June 2025

A drink that tasted just like a Thai iced tea with a little coconut rum!
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…last month was pretty stressful. :( Muffs finally cleared her kidney infection but still wasn’t eating well and things weren’t looking very optimistic. I am cautiously hopeful again though because her appetite and energy both seem to have returned at full force again! I have an awesome friend who lives nearby and is a vet, so I credit most of this miracle recovery to her. ❤️

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I was originally supposed to be in Santa Fe last month for a wilderness Medicine conference, but was too worried to leave the muffers, so I canceled it. My work covers the transportation/lodging for conferences, so I usually try to drag friends along for the free vacation. Since I couldn’t do the trip anymore, they redirected their flights to come visit and hang out with me instead. I’m super super grateful for the people in my life. ❤️❤️❤️
We discovered a lot of nearby delicious brunch spots and also met a full-fledged Karen at one of them since she was at the table right next to us. Her behavior was unbelievably appalling + it felt like we were given front row seats to a show on the entitled.
We ended up tipping the server a bunch extra to hopefully brighten up his day. (Karma is nice though and she apparently locked her own keys in her car, so you reap what you sow. Twas a very satisfying “season finale.”)
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that… it’s definitely warmed up here, so my halau has been having more performances lately! We did May Day over at the fairgrounds earlier this month!
Also got to see Ali Wong for a “work in progress” show when she came by to San Jose last month!

Oh no, Muffin! That is very scary. I hope she’s going to be okay.
Lol on the Karen story- I like the ending of it! Nice of you tip the server extra- I’m sure it helped!
Look at those fun costumes! Hope your cat is ok!
Sending good vibes to Muffin and hope she continues to eat well and gain energy now that she’s recovered from her kidney infection. How nice to have a vet friend to watch over her!
I’m glad Muffin is getting better.
My daughter had a traumatic month with one of her rescued pet chickens, who finally seems to be out of the woods. Since you’re a doctor maybe you’ll appreciate that a transfusion from her other pet chickens seemed to really turn things around. (Who knew this was possible!) They think it had some kind of infection, but there’s limited meds they can use because even though these are pets, there’s laws (related to the food chain) against giving certain antibiotics to chickens.
