Fall Community Harvest Dinner

And so my food adventures continue. This was the day after the pumpkin potluck, so clearly, I’ve been super livin’ it up in the fooding world!.

The Lewisburg Farmers’ Market hosted the Fall Community Harvest Dinner to celebrate their fall harvest with locally grown + produced food prepared by all the market vendors. :D!

I had a ginormous lunch at church (as per usual)… :x

It was only $15 for pretty much all-you-can-eat goodness, since there was a tonnnn of food there (plenty more than even we could finish off). <3

The event was located at the United Methodist Church, and the menu included:

  • Mixed Greens Salad with Carrots + Beets (a collaborative effort from Azimuth Organics, Dogwood Hill and Rainbow Farm)
  • Hot Pepper Poppers from On a Shoestring
  • Chicken Cacciatore from Rainbow Farm
  • Beef Bourguignon from Dogwood Hill
  • Twice Baked + Stuffed Sweet Potatoes from Azimuth Organics
  • Pumpkin Soup from Rainbow Farm
  • Venison Stew from Bootstraps
  • Roasted Fall Veggies from Lephew’s + Azimuth Organics
  • Savory breads from Something Different
  • Pears from Talking Hill
  • All sorts of pies from Rolling Dough Kitchen

Bread! <3

Potatoes of all sorts!

Sage Mint Chamomile Iced Tea!

This was my first plate. (Venison stew, tomato + rice soup, sweet potatoes, various homemade breads and salads, chicken cacciatore, roasted potatoes…)

Pumpkin bisque, sage mint chamomile iced tea, vegetarian lasagna, more sweet potatoes (those were my favorite dish)…

I had about 3 more plates of food after this. :x The food was beyond delicious, and I’m really, really hoping they’ll have another one of these again in the spring.

I barely even made it to the dessert table because we made a couple communal plates (this is just a tiny representation) so we could try some of everything.

Food makes my world go round.

We stuck around afterward and Ross taught us the Virginia Reel–a folk dance with Scottish and Irish influence that dates from the 17th century!. :D
