A Week of Catch-Up

So…my crazy week of interviews is over, so I spent the remainder of that week playing catch-up! (I was in North Carolina on Tuesday, New Jersey on Wednesday, and super-northern-California on Thursday! I’m also not writing in real time, because of said catch-up and the fact that I had a rotation in Arizona that following Monday.)

The first of my interviews took place by a gorgeous beach. (They put us up in a hotel with a view of the ocean!) I pretty much had to go back there after my interview to hang out, and since one of the other applicants didn’t have a car and we were leaving from the airport at the same time, we went together!

They kept apologizing that it was such an overcast day and for the rain, but at 70 degrees on December 1st, I am hardly in any position to complain. :O

wilmingtonbeachI should probably also mention that about 1.5 months ago, I took my last set of boards. They finally got back to me on my score at the beginning of the month, and I’m super excited to report…

Hooray hooray! :D! No more exams until residency! (It feels so unreal!)

All my flights were delayed, and when I finally got to New Jersey on Tuesday night, I found out that they’d…given away my hotel room. :[ They eventually managed to find me a room in a neighboring town though, and I ended up getting there at 1:30 a.m… Tis a good thing that I already knew the area well.

I was pretty disoriented the next morning, and although my general rule of thumb is to look for the people in suits at interviews if I’m lost, this is the only time it’s ever led me astray. I tried to get up early to attend morning rounds, got hopelessly lost because the door I needed to get through was locked, and the hospital was ginormous. I ended up wandering into the wrong lobby and almost sitting in on general surgery interviews. (Good goin’, me!)

What matters, however, is that I got to all my interviews on time and made it home (and then off to my current rotation) in one piece! Thanks so much for all your good thoughts + prayers!

After that interview, I had a chance to finally visit A Better World Cafe! (I talked about it before when I shared my Apple Nachos recipe with you!)

After all these years, I finally have the chance to check out @betterworldcafe! This is the #betterworld #salad!! ?

We’re going to conclude with a joyous reunion with my adorable cat, Ninja. I picked her up off the street when she was smaller than the size of half my journal! (My mom equates food to love, so in my absence, this is kinda what happened. ._.)

Only 5 interviews and 5 rotations left til I’m officially a doctor!!!
