닭갈비 (Dak Galbi/Spicy Marinated Chicken)

I was craving Korean food and by my best estimates, the closest Korean restaurant is probably at least 2 hours away from where I’m currently living in southeastern West Virginia.

…so obviously, I had to delve into another kitchen experiment of sorts. Thank goodness for the internet. :O

I loosely adapted this from here and …

Korean-esque Stir Fry

This was originally supposed to be my/Mekala/Sylvia’s attempt at making Korean BBQ + japchae, but we didn’t have enough time, so it became this instead. It turned out pretty well. Just sayin’.

(We also couldn’t find starch noodles at the Asian market. :[ )

I usually consider using ready-made sauce to be cheating, kindasorta, but …

비빔밥 (Bibimbap/Mixed Rice with Vegetables)

Earlier this month (more specifically, on the 8th, because that was when the GVC performance was), my friend Swathi texted our group (we have yet to find a name that we can collectively call ourselves for convenience) to see if we’d be up for a late dinner at her place. Since my performance basically ended …

참치전 (Chamchi Jeon)

These are otherwise known as tuna cakes. :D! I’m a big fan of recipes that call for only ingredients that I already have, because then, I don’t get tempted to go out and buy that one and only ingredient that I always seem to be missing (basil, I’m looking at you :[ ). These were …

Pickled Radish

This dish was one of the side dishes Melanie and I made during Valentine’s Day. :O If you missed our main course, go check out the recipe for Zha Jiang Mian / Jajangmyeon and read up on the back story of why it’s often consumed on Valentine’s Day! 😛

The only pickled substances I ever eat are …

炸醬麵/자장면 (Zha Jiang Mian/Jajangmyeon)

Apparently, if you’re single, it’s tradition to make this on Valentine’s Day because this is a super messy dish, but since you’re single, you don’t have to care about what your face looks like when you’re done eating…so we decided to make this on Valentine’s Day for small group! 😀

This is actually the Korean …

된장찌개 (Korean Tofu Stew)

I’m pretty sure those characters don’t actually mean “Korean Tofu Stew,” but I think this is typically what 된장찌개 contains. (Minus the seafood because I can’t eat that. :O As a disclaimer, I am totally not Korean, so if I got any of this wrong, please don’t hate me. I blame Google.) It’s kinda like …
