Heat the coconut oil in a large pot on medium-high heat (~6-7/10, if your stovetop happens to have numbers).
Pour in the popcorn kernels and cover with a lid, leaving a tiny bit of space to allow it to vent.
Pour the chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl, and when the popping starts to slow down, heat it up for 30-second increments until mostly melted.
Stir the white cake mix into the melted chocolate.
Remove popcorn from heat and pour into large bowl. Stir the melted chocolate mixture in and toss/mix to coat evenly.
