Young’s Nature Trail

We decided to take advantage of our fall break and the gorgeous weather and went on a 4.5-ish mile hike up the road and along Young’s Nature Trail (~1.7 each way). :]

Young’s Nature Trail is located in the Greenbrier State Forest, and you start about 1/10 of a mile north of the picnic area at the main forest road, and it gradually ascends from the hollow to a steep ridge to the trailhead of Kate’s Mountain Road!

I’m unfortunately not that sure as to which trail we ended up following after Young’s Nature Trail, because we definitely didn’t do the entirety of Kate’s Mountain Trail (although not for lack of want, haha–we just wanted to get back before it got dark).

Distance: 3.2 miles miles (out + back)
Elevation: 1174 ft
Difficulty: Moderate
Duration: ~2 hours
Trailhead Address: 37.73649,-80.36047
Parking:
Lot available (free)!

It was a lot of fun though! I wish I’d taken more pictures, but I’m just going to go with the fact that 3 is better than none! Twas a pleasant and definitely welcomed break from the monotony that is studying for exams all the time in medical school!

  • Do you also fall victim to not really exploring the places where you live?

It looks wonderful. I wish we had more nature trails where I live. I love being able to go hiking.

    1. I love getting to go hiking too! I like finding places to explore when I’m on vacation (which are rare, but once in a blue moon is still better than nothing!) so that I can work em’ in if I’m living in an area that doesn’t have as many nature trails around! :O
