Ultimate Coffee Date: February 2015

Hi everyone! :] I’m linking up with Coco @ Got 2 Run 4 Me, Lynda @ Fitness Mom Wine Country, & Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner! for the February’s Ultimate Coffee Date! Pull up a chair/bean bag/whatever you like to sit on and come link and/or catch up with us! :]

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I’m currently waging war with one two of my friends.

Over a resident.

More specifically, we’re trying to convince said resident when he should do his last Internal Medicine rotation (e.g. my argument is for June, because then I’d get to work with him).

I will admit that I’m not fighting all that fair, but desperate times call for desperate measures!

fightingforneil

youdidntmakethatIn case you’re interested in those 75%-pictured recipes, they are here:

He’s taking his sweet time on making a decision, so we’re all sorts of sad right now, but I guess we’ll see what happens.

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…my friend recently unearthed this photo from a friend’s wedding last year, and I’m digging how unimpressed we look. Don’t mess with us.

You can't sit with us.

You can’t sit with us.

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…life has been pretty cool thus far! I just finished my pediatrics rotation, so I’m going to miss getting to watch little excerpts of Disney movies (mainly Tangled & Frozen) and getting to act like a little kid all day long!

The tradeoff is that I might have less of a chance of being peed/pooped/puked on though, so I suppose there’s that.

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I’m co-hosting #WithLoveFridays, a linkup on love (dating, disasters, marriage, breakups, self-love, fandoms, and anything in between) this month with Kristie, Lisa & Georgina!

I thought a “disasters” post would be fun to write, but sadly, I don’t have any good stories. The only one that comes to mind is the time I had to get a drug test done to volunteer at a hospital. The guy who who got my information was super super attractive.

He was also the one who handed me my urine cup.

It’s just a tad difficult to go, “So…how ’bout Friday night?” to someone you’re handing your pee to, so there went that.

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I got bored and procrastinate-y a couple weeks ago and made a bunch of playlists.

Heartbroken?

Heartbroken, In a Failing Relationship, or Not Ready To Try Again?

Found The One?

In the Honeymoon Phase & Never Left It? / Found The One?

I have playlists for happy singles, in-between phases, fresh breakups, and I-just-want-to-be-depressed-today too! Tis a shame that my laptop decided that it no longer wants to play music or videos. :'(

The Ultimate Coffee Date
So tell me…
  • Do you think I have a chance at winning over that resident? :D?! Who do you think will win?
  • Do you have any posts on love/relationships/dating/etc.? Share em’ with me (and link up with us)! I need inspiration because I’m supposedly heartless!
  • Do you have any fun awkward moment/disaster stories to share?
  • What’s your favorite song about love? I’m a total sucker for cute duets and not gonna lie, guys who can sing [and play string instruments *-*] score extra brownie points with me. :O

  1. Oh. My. Goodness, the story about the attractive man you were *oh-so-fortunate* to get the chance to hand your pee to in a cup! Hilarious! I literally laughed out loud. I dunno, I think it’s a great lead in for asking him out…After all, it can only go up from there, yes? I hope? Have a great weekend, Farrah!

    1. hahaha, I was so sad. :[ But you do have a good point! I should’ve just gone for it! :P

  2. Oh and I have a REALLY great awkward relationship/dating related story (about myself with my fiance our first year we were dating) but it’s a little to more than PG-13 rated for saying out loud on a blog so…if you want to hear the story do not hesitate to hit me up on facebook with a message! I’d be happy to tell you. I’m a pretty open person and honestly, I still laugh about this particular awkward situation today.

    1. hehehe, emailed you! I wish I had more fun stories like these, but alas! One of my friend’s preceptors tried to set him up with one of his patients, hah. :x We’re not sure how the boundaries/lines are drawn when we’re not actually doctors yet, but thankfully, I haven’t had to worry about that!

  3. Who can say no to “hot dates by Farrah”?! You are totally winning this one ;) Those playlists are great! My favorite song is Love and Affection by Matt White..it gives me chills! Have a great weekend!

    1. Hahaha, thank you! ;] I think I might be losing right now because I’ve only been sending him pictures of delicious food. My friend has been baking him cookies! Ahhhh!

I’m gonna go look that song up! <3

  4. I think it would be hard to turn down a woman holding a pee cup, really, sometimes you have to just go for it! Good luck with the intern, sounds like he can be won over! Remember men are basically easy :) have a great weekend!

I shall try! I think I’m losing right now because my friend has been baking him cookies! Must step up my game! (I bet he’s loving all this competition, hahaha.)

  5. You are so funny! Yes I think you can win over your friend with food! So funny about pediatrics but gives you lots of practice for when you have your own kids one day. Thanks for joining the coffee date I love these posts!

    1. Food tends to be the way to my heart, so I figured I could turn that around on other people too! ;P

I’m not planning on having kids, but it definitely helps with working on my patience and just rollin’ with the punches! :]

  6. I love your tactics to win him over!! Go for the kill with food! Well played! :)

    1. Gotta strike with what I know best, right!? ;P

  7. Farrah if you offered to cook for me I would choose you!! I work for food- I’ve been telling my managers this for years yet only a few of them actually listen to me! Sigh.

I haven’t told you this (I think) but I’m really impressed with your dedication! You are in med school, volunteer, blogging and all your fitness activities! Your time management skills are ridiculous. Please come organize my life. Lol.

    1. YES! <3 That's how I used to work in college too! A ton of my friends were in music and would ask me to be their accompanist, but I'd feel terrible taking money from them because we were all in the same boat as far as starving students go, so I just had them pay me in food, and it worked out really well with sustaining my livelihood!

Aww, thank you, Montana! <3 Undergrad was a reallyyyy good practice run for me where I literally had every hour of my day planned out so that I could get everything I need/wanted to do done. It was hectic, but definitely helped to keep my life in order, so I kinda just carried all of that with me to grad and then med school! :o

  8. Favourite songs about love? I have a few!

    1) Simple Song – the Shins
    2) I’ll be seeing you – Jimmy Durante
    3) The Rose – Bette Midler
    4) La Vie En Rose (both Edith and Louis version!)
    5) The Girl – City and Colour
    6) Thinking Out Loud – Ed Sheeran

… as you can maybe tell I’m making a valentines playlist right now ;) I’ll definitely be taking some of your suggestions

  10. I love your stories and that play list is awesome, the John Legend all of me has a special place in my heart because it was the very last song a local 5 year old girl whispered trying to sing to her family before she died so I instantly think of her when I hear or even see it written but in a good way so thanks for giving me that moment again <3

My thoughts are definitely with that family! :[ I can't imagine how rough it would be to go through something like that...That song is absolutely beautiful.

I have one to go with the heartbroken playlist. I Appear Missing by Queens of the Stone Age. It came out almost simultaneously, and it accurately encompassed my emotions.

We’d love to have you join us! I think the post on compassion that I’m doing should tie in perfectly with it! :]

  12. Lindsay Stirling is my favorite! I still can’t believe she got rejected on America’s got Talent! They must have been out of their minds!

    1. I adore her! :] America’s Got Talent clearly didn’t know what they were missing out on, but I’m glad she’s doing so well on her own! <3 I hope I can go to one of her concerts one day!

  13. Food always helps seal the wins; that’s how my BF won my heart (seriously, he always brought my dinner/dessert to me at work). I love the idea for the link-up, sounds like a lot of fun and a good read.

    1. Wellll, I wouldn’t say there weren’t any disastrous ones, haha. They’re just not good stories because they were just kinda horrible, but at least they’re gone now! :] Hope you have an awesome rest of the weekend!

  16. I love looking at other people’s playlists! That’s so fun!! I can’t think of any disastrous love story – just tragic crushes. Ha! I’ve been married too long that all of my former memories have faded away. I’ll definitely have to check it out!

Wow! You are incredible! I am glad your rotation is going well. Be patient on finding someone. I have a couple book review posts on single life on my blogs, here is one http://www.feelingfit.info/2014/11/book-review-coffee-dates-from-hell-by-jim-tillberry/

    1. Aww, thanks! :] I’m sad that that rotation has ended! I’m not all that excited about psychiatry, but hoping I’ll learn something from anyway.

  21. Valentine’s Day is not my favorite holiday… I suppose I’m a grinch when it comes to romance-y stuff. And Christmas music. Definitely a grinch about that. We plan a cozy evening in. Nothing fancy.

When we’re on the topic of food, I’d probably tell you about my new baby food processor for making falafel. It’s to small and cute I laughed when I pulled it out of the box. But it’s perfect for what I need in a small kitchen!

    1. haha, I’m not much for lovey-dovey cutesy stuff either, but am somewhat of a closet sap when it comes to cute duets. :]

That’s awesome! :D I really need to get a food processor! I’ve never tried making falafel, but it’s on my to-do list.

  22. Thanks for posting such a great and innovative stuff over here. Your website is very useful.

    1. Thank you! :]
