6F Cakes of Yore

Since I’m off on my surgery rotation right now and it was my birthday earlier this week, I figured I’d do a cake dessert documentary of years’ past today! :]

As per 6F tradition, when any of our birthdays start to loom near, the soon-to-be oldie is cordially requested demanded to produce the following:

    The Soup Club Cookbook

As a super frugal med student, I like to save money wherever possible, so one way I accomplish this is…rounding up friends to cook with and/or have potlucks with. We get a variety of awesome types of food with a massively decreased prep time; coupled with awesome company and a break from …

    Fall Community Harvest Dinner

And so my food adventures continue. This was the day after the pumpkin potluck, so clearly, I’ve been super livin’ it up in the fooding world!.

The Lewisburg Farmers’ Market hosted the Fall Community Harvest Dinner to celebrate their fall harvest with locally grown + produced food prepared by all the market vendors. :D!

    pumpkin potluck

I’m usually really good about writing recipes into the future (thank you, scheduled post option!), but really, really terrible about updating about my life in a timely manner. Luckily, med school is a great scapegoat to blame everything on and most people completely understand, so I’m in the clear! :]

Several weeks ago, one of …

腊肠饭 (One-Pot Lap Cheong/Chinese Sausage with Rice)

I’m often jokingly called a failure of a Canto person because I can’t eat pork. (Half the dimsum out there probably has pork in it, in some shape or form.) Such as it is, I can never eat 腊肠饭, which smells gloriously wonderful (and is probably terrible for you and super-fatty, so I guess it’s …

    饺子 (Dumplings From Scratch)

I’ve made dumplings before, but this time, it’s all from scratch! We were originally going to use pre-made wrappers, but the ones I’d gotten unfortunately went bad. (Got too busy and didn’t get a chance to use them. :'( Thanks a lot, med school!)

So we made our dumplings from scratch (nice to know that I …

    蛋塔 (Egg Tarts) v.2

We made these with a puff pastry crust (cheated and bought that at the store) and also with a homemade crust. Most Chinese bakeries use the puffy crust now, but I kinda prefer the non-flakey one more sometimes. The picture shown uses the puff pastry crust, which is why it’s so pretty. I’m sorry that …
