Pomegranate Slushie

Welcome to our weekly Foodie Friday link up! I’m linking up with Annmarie from the Fit Foodie Mama + Esther from Chocolate Runner Girl to create awesome healthy recipes each week! This week’s theme = 5 Ingredients + Under!

I know what you’re thinking. Why the hecks am I making a pomegranate slushie in the middle of this bomb cyclone/freezing cold east coast weather? I’ve clearly lost my marbles. :O

While this may be true, it’s also partly due to the fact that my heated throw, my cat, and Gixo workouts have been keeping me warm in my apartment. (Not all of them together, although Muffin sometimes does get used as a weight.) I was thirsty and since I’ve been mainly just drinking hot tea for the past couple weeks, I wanted something different. #dontjudgeme

By posting this recipe I am entering a recipe contest sponsored by POM Wonderful and am eligible to win prizes associated with the contest. I was not compensated for my time.

POM Wonderful

I had POM Wonderful’s pomegranate juice for the very first time about 11 years ago when I was recovering from a bout of food poisoning and it was the first thing I could actually keep down, so I have fond feelings of their pomegranate juice as a result of this.

POM Wonderful is filled with antioxidants and the pomegranate is whole-pressed–the entirety of 2 whole pomegranates are found in each 8-oz bottle. It’s also a great source of potassium, so if you’re not the biggest fan of bananas, this would be an easy way to get your potassium in! (Each 8-oz bottle contains the amount that a medium banana would contain–600mg!)

The other good news for you is that it’d be hard to find a recipe easier than this! Please note that I tend to dislike things that are overly sweet, so this is on the tart side. If you want something less tart, maple syrup or honey would be good options to blend in!

    1. haha, I’ve definitely been all about the warm drinks during colder weather, but on the few days that it warmed up, the cold ones were definitely extra refreshing!

  17. I don’t do frozen treats year round…but on the other hand I’ll drink hot coffee year round even while complaining about how hot the weather is.

And I’m all about pomegranate juice because dealing with the whole fruit is a pain!
