Oatmeal

This isn’t really a recipe, but it’s basically what I eat for breakfast every morning because it’s the fastest thing in the world [and also because I’m a creature of habit]. I think this habit started in junior year of college for a couple reasons, one of which was the fact that before junior year, I tended to value sleep over food. However, I was nicely/gratefully coerced into being less of a disgrace to my major by changing my eating habits (packing enough food to last through my 12-17 hour days on campus) and exercising regularly (fending off sarcopenia, osteoporosis and all sorts of terrible things one day at a time!).

Anyway, I trained myself to get everything ready within 10 minutes of waking up. I’d pack my food the night before and lay out whatever clothes I planned to wear over my chair. After waking up, I’d make oatmeal and while that was cooking in the microwave, I’d go back upstairs to brush my teeth, change, all that good stuff. Then I’d go back downstairs, down my breakfast, wash my bowl and spoon, and bike off to class. Efficiency was key, my friends. :O

I’ve carried this habit with me to grad school, although usually, bananas [and flax seed] are somewhat of a luxury. :[

Oatmeal

Ingredients:
-old-fashioned oats
-dried cranberries
-bananas, sliced
-soy milk
-flax seed

Instructions:
1) Pour oats into a bowl. Submerge with soy milk. Microwave for 1 minute and 25 seconds (it says 2.5-3 minutes on the box, but…obviously, I don’t wait that long ._.).
2) Add dried cranberries and slice in some bananas. (I usually use my spoon to slice it so I don’t have to wash an extra knife. Every bit counts.)
