Defy Limits with Gixo

Happy New Year! I’ve beenĀ slightlyĀ MIA-ish on social media, which was semi-expected because of the holidays, but twas mainly because I was back on hospital service for the past two weeks, and it tends to sap all the life and energy out of me. (You can read about what it was likeĀ when I was an intern here–I may do one for “life as a senior resident” sometime as well!)

My right knee has also been a little crackly lately, so the rest and random stretches I’ve been doing for it have been fairly helpful. (I haven’t been to a doctor’s appointment in ages, but diagnosed myself with patellofemoral syndrome and curbsided my sports medicine fellow friend to check out my knee and he agrees that it’s either patellofemoral syndrome or plicae.) In any case, it does appear that it’s mostly back to normal now, so hooray for that! I guess I can return to my normal daily activities again!

For those of you who read my post about Gixo, you know how much I love that app. I managed to win 2nd place in their fitness challenge in November and they sent me an awesome giftĀ (see below <3!).Ā I’mĀ ratherĀ excited to announce that I’ll be working with Sweat Pink and Gixo for the #IAmLimitless campaign!Ā Although this post is sponsored by Gixo, as always, all thoughts + opinions are mine and mine alone.

Defy Limits with Gixo

defy limits with gixo

I’ve even managed to squeeze in a Gixo workout on my walk home! (I took a detour to put down all my stuff and then jog halfway through, haha.)

This new year, weā€™re leaving behind resolutions that donā€™t stick! I don’t tend to make resolutions every year, but I do have an ongoing set of goals I’d like to achieve via my 101 in 1001!

I AM LIMITLESS. I know no boundaries. I defy limits. I rise above and I go beyond what is possible. I know there is nothing we canā€™t accomplish, together.

Weā€™re saying goodbye to the negativity in our lives and are opening our arms wide open to community and to knowing no limits on what we can achieve. I became a Sweat Pink ambassador a couple years back and I love how incredibly supportive and encouraging this community has been. It made my years living on my own far away from home a lot less lonely.

There are live fitness classes taught by personal trainers/coaches every 30 minutes from 5am to 12:30am (Learn more on my previous post here!). It’s a great portable option for beginners and seasoned athletes alike, since all you need are your headphones and your phone!

Gixo is responsible for convincing me to do my very first winter run! :O

Gixo is responsible for convincing me to do my very first winter run! :O

defy limits with gixo

I also mentioned Gixo before in my “6 Brands That Give Back” post–they haveĀ multiple “Resolution Runs” going on today at 8am, 11am, 3pm, and 6pm (EST) where Gixo will be donating $10/mile to Support Partnership for a Healthier America! In the past, they’ve done a Turkey Trot and Santa Run where they donated to Feeding America and Toys For Tots! How’s that for an amazing company?!

As a family medicine physician, I am all for preventive care and recommend regular exercise to most of my patients–usually 30 minutes/day at least 4-6 times a week, or a total of 150 minutes or more per week. Gixo isĀ $19.99/month, or $179.99 for the full year (basically meaning you get 3 months free)! If not for the fact that I love and adore powerlifting, I’d seriously consider giving up my current gym membership and just going with Gixo. :P

Help us defy limits and show us what youā€™re made of! Share with me who inspires and empowers you! Each Wednesday and Friday fromĀ January 10- February 2, weā€™ll be sharing messages of inspiration, empowerment, and positivity, so make sure you’re following me on Instagram so you don’t miss anything! :]

  1. Other runner inspire me. When I think I have a bad run, I read about others and it makes my challenges seem minor.

    I don’t set goals anymore.

I try to run when I can and race often…always doing the best that I can that day. Some races go well and then some don’t. You just get back out there.

Happy New Year. Hope it’s a good one.

    1. That’s awesome! I like the “what you can when you can” philosophy too! :] The mentality you have is awesome!

Happy new year to you as well!

  2. Your such an awesome human. Hah, everything you do you just rock it. Youā€™ve inspired me to step out on this 20* day for a walk/run that I miss so dearly. I hope you had a great new year!

  6. I didn’t make any resolutions either but I do have some goals. One was to change the focus on my blog and make it a combo of fitness and finance articles. Happy New Year.

  8. I like the idea of no more negative thinking. I can really get myself stuck in a negative cycle and anything that helps me get out of it is a good thing!

    Happy New Year!

  12. I’m always in awe that you fit in fitness and blogging while going to med school! As for the knee, if it is PFPS perhaps some strength exercises for your quads and to attempt to isolate the VMO along with the IT Band stretches will help? I’ve never had it, but I bet it hurts! Have a great 2018!

    1. haha, it’s been a struggle! I’m done with med school but in residency, so it still kindasorta feels like I’m in school in that I still need to study but am also working forreal now, haha.

Many thanks for the tips! I’ve been doing those intermittently and they’ve been helping–I need to try out some IT band stretches though! Hope you have an awesome 2018 as well!

  13. Man, I need to figure out how to get more exercise in during my week. I’m THINKING of joining my old university’s gym because it’s not outrageous every month for alumni PLUS there is no contract, which is good if I decide to stop going or realize it’s not for me or something. We’ll see though! At any rate, tomorrow is back to the weigh loss grind and actually following my plan so it’ll be a weird adjustment after a few weeks of not exactly following it. LOL

    1. I loveeeee alumni discounts, hahaha. I kindasortamaybe want to work in my old college town when I’m done with residency, and joining that gym again (where my fitness journey first began! :P ) would definitely be on my list of to-do’s! :P

Best of luck to you on your goals! I feel ya on the holiday eating, hahaha.
