Cinnamon Apple Phyllo Tarts

Welcome to our weekly Foodie Friday link up! I’m linking up with Annmarie from the Fit Foodie Mama + Esther from Chocolate Runner Girl to create awesome healthy recipes each week! This week’s theme is Free For All!

Is there anything that you’re not the biggest fan of working with? For me, it’s phyllo dough. Mostly just because I’m lazy and somewhat of a klutz, which isn’t the best combination when you have to work with super thin sheets of dough. (They did make for some pretty tasty homemade poptarts though…)

I suspect the reason why I originally got it way back in the day was to try making baklava, but I never ended up doing that (sigh). Such was the case with Trish as well, so we decided we might as well just use it up after we went apple picking and made apple turnovers (yes, this recipe is in fact from that long ago–what can I say? I like to plan ahead…and I’m on inpatient rotations right now.)

  10. Phyllo dough is a nightmare to work with, I made spanakopita for my Super Bowl party, and the phyllo dough kept drying out, cracking and sticking together. These apple turnovers give me hope. :) Great recipe Farrah

    1. Agreed! It definitely can be a nightmare to work with, but it can come out looking so nice! :P I’ve never had spanakopita! :O
